The AbeBooks Seller Application
We are excited that you are considering becoming a seller on AbeBooks! We want to know all about you and your business so we can make sure we provide you with the best experience possible.
The application is quite detailed so we understand if you have questions! Below is an overview of the application. If you have further questions please feel free to contact Customer Support and we would be happy to help you!
The ‘Marketplace Profile’ page of the application is a general overview of you and your business. Please be sure to enter a valid address and return address. Buyers will receive the return address if they should request a return. You also need to enter a valid phone number but you can choose if you want this displayed to customers on your storefront.
Note: at the bottom of the page there is a section to enter your promo code if you have one. If you do not have a code, leave this blank.
Terms and Disclaimers
The ‘Terms and Disclaimers’ page of the application is where you can enter your Terms of Sale and Shipping Terms. These sections are there for your consideration but are not required. You do have the option of leaving them blank and clicking Save and Continue at the bottom of the page.

The ‘Bookseller Identification’ page is where you enter the legal information about your business. First, you want to enter the country you live in and note what kind of business you are. This page includes descriptions of each entity type if you’re not sure what kind of business you have.

German Tax Declaration
This page relates to German tax legislation and will outline your options for moving forward.
Tax law can be very complex so please refer to a tax professional if you have questions about this legislation and how it affects your business. You can also refer to the following Help Pages:
Tax Registration Number
Depending on where you live, the ‘Tax Registration Number’ page of the application will request a GST/HST/VAT id number.
If this does not apply to you, you can leave this blank and click Save and Continue.
AbeBooks pays by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) each week for your sales so providing correct bank information is important and required. This information is secure and encrypted for your security. To learn more about these requirements or if you have further questions please refer to the Help Page below:
Credit Card Info
This page of the application is where you will enter your credit card details. You can click on the red Credit Card Details button which will bring you to a secure page to enter your information. When you have filled out the information, click Add Card.
A valid credit card must be on file for most sellers. We will charge your credit card on the first Friday of each month if you have an owing balance on your account that was not covered by your sales.
Taxpayer Identification Interview
The ‘Taxpayer Identification Interview’ page will only appear for sellers who meet specific requirements. These sellers must complete either a form W-9 or W-8BEN:
Please read through the information on this page and click Continue to begin the taxpayer interview. Please note, if you have questions about either of these forms you will need to consult a tax professional.
Once you have completed the required information, click Submit and you can continue with the final steps of the application.

This page of the application is the Agreements page. Here you have to check ‘Yes, I agree with the above’for all agreements. You are welcome to review the full agreements using the links provided but a summary of each agreement is also included on this page.
Please note, it is mandatory that you check off all of these agreements, otherwise your application will not submit. Copies of these agreements are also sent to your email for your own records.
Once your application has submitted you will see a new page that states ‘Thank you for your application!’
You Submitted the Application! Now What?
Our Registrations team will receive your completed application. If they have any questions about your application, they may contact you before activating your account.
Application processing usually takes 1-2 business days, but may be longer depending on the volume of applications we receive. As soon as your application has processed, your seller account will be activated, and you will receive an email welcoming you to the AbeBooks marketplace!
