AbeBooks Channel Program – Inventory Management

Important Announcement:

The AbeBooks Channel Program was permanently closed on June 16, 2014. See full details.

——————-

How does my inventory get on Amazon?

AbeBooks systems’ have been integrated with Amazon so Channel Program participants need simply upload to AbeBooks, as normal, and their inventory will automatically be forwarded to Amazon. Whether uploading new listings or updates to existing listings, we’ll automatically process those same updates to your inventory on Amazon. Upload-to-search time on Amazon is typically 3 to 4 hours.

The Channel Program supports both ISBN and non-ISBN listings. For sellers with ISBN matching turned on, ISBN matched data will not be included with any non-ISBN listings forwarded to Amazon.

Can I price my books differently on Amazon?

Book prices on Amazon must be the same as those listed on AbeBooks.

Can I exclude books from being uploaded to Amazon?

You can choose to exclude certain listings from Amazon.

To exclude an item you will need to add a tag to your Keywords field – the tag is NOAMZ. Any listing with the NOAMZ tag present in the Keywords field will not be forwarded to Amazon.

If you later decide to add one of your excluded books back into your Amazon inventory, you can do so by replacing the NOAMZ tag in your Keywords field with YESAMZ. The YESAMZ tag is only necessary for listings that have been previously excluded from the Channel Program.

Note: These exclusion tags will not work in our Online Inventory Management system. It is not possible to exclude books when managing inventory by this method but we plan to add this functionality in the future.

How will I know that my books are listed on Amazon?

After you upload your books to us, we’ll deliver them to Amazon. Amazon will check to see if your inventory has their required attributes. Those required attributes are:

  • Author
  • Title
  • Publisher
  • Publication Date (The year published is the minimum requirement.)
  • Price
  • Binding
  • Condition

If an error does occur, i.e. if the author name is missing, then an Amazon error report will be emailed to you. The report will include the reason the book was not listed on Amazon.

To list a book included in the report, correct the error and re-upload to AbeBooks. The updated listing will automatically be forwarded to Amazon.

If a listing does not appear on the error report, or if no error report is received, that means the upload to Amazon was successful.

How will I be able to find my books?

Your books will be listed under the AbeBooks branded Marketplace account. Your inventory will be indexed by Amazon’s search engine, like all Marketplace books. If you’ve assigned additional attributes to your books, such as ‘signed’ or ‘inscribed by the Author or Illustrator,’ then they may be eligible for inclusion in Amazon’s Collectible tab.

Eligibility for Amazon’s Collectible status will be determined by Amazon’s Collectible Books Attribute policy.
